Key Responsibilities:
Jira Plugin Development (Primary):

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain custom Jira plugins/applications using the Atlassian SDK and Forge/Connect frameworks
  • Develop workflow post-functions, conditions, validators, custom fields, and panel extensions to enhance Jira functionality
  • Integrate Jira and Confluence with third-party applications using REST APIs and webhooks
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for custom plugins while ensuring code quality through code reviews and unit testing
  • Monitor plugin performance and troubleshoot production issues to ensure smooth system operations

Migration Engineering:

  • Plan and execute data migrations between Jira instances (Server and Cloud environments)
  • Migrate projects, issues, workflows, and configurations across platforms such as Jira and GitHub Projects
  • Perform pre- and post-migration data validation using automated scripts and manual verification methods to ensure data integrity
  • Prepare migration runbooks, rollback strategies, and stakeholder communication documentation
  • Collaborate with IT, security, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth execution during migration activities

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in software development with a strong focus on Atlassian tools
  • Proficient in Java, JavaScript, or Groovy for backend Jira plugin development
  • Hands-on experience with Atlassian Forge and Jira Connect frameworks
  • Strong understanding of Jira’s data model, including projects, issues, workflows, screens, and permission schemes
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and experience in developing integrations using Jira REST APIs
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems such as Git.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with the capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Good to have:

  • Experience with Jira Data Center or Jira Cloud migrations using tools such as Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA).
  • Familiarity with Script Runner for Jira and Groovy scripting.
  • Working knowledge of other Atlassian tools, including Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Jira Service Management (JSM)
  • Experience in migrating data to and from platforms such as Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, and Monday.com.
  • Understanding of the Atlassian Marketplace app submission and approval process.
  • Basic knowledge of AWS or GCP cloud fundamentals to support cloud-hosted Jira environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
